The Counter-Fitters: A Legacy of Quality and Craftsmanship
Founded in 1987 by Ernie A. Donati after over 20 years of contracting experience with Sears and ASI, The Counter-Fitters began as a small shop on Summer Avenue. With a reputation built on hard work, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to quality, Ernie quickly grew the business and moved to a larger location on Broad Avenue.
As the company flourished, Ernie was joined by his son, Ernie Jr., and daughters, Erica and Tiffany, and together they navigated the challenges and successes that come with running a family business. Over the years, The Counter-Fitters became a staple in the Memphis community, with customers often meeting the youngest members of the Donati family, and even today, Ernie Sr.'s grandchildren can be spotted around the office.
In 2011, Ernie Jr. made the bold decision to expand into stone fabrication, and by the end of 2016, the family had purchased a new building on Summer Gale Drive, all while continuing operations at their stone shop on Summer Avenue. Then, in early 2025, an exciting opportunity arose to consolidate both the wood and stone shops into one location. The Counter-Fitters acquired the historic "Alexander Brothers" building, a long-standing family-owned business in Memphis since the 1960s.
With over six decades of combined experience, Ernie A. has earned a reputation as a perfectionist, ensuring that every piece of work that leaves the shop is of the highest quality. His dedication to craftsmanship is a value passed down through generations, and each member of the team continues to uphold that legacy with pride.
Today, The Counter-Fitters remains a family-operated business, dedicated to providing exceptional service and satisfaction to every customer. Whether fabricating custom countertops or offering a range of other services, no job is too big or too small for our team.
